Duke Medicine Orchestra

The Duke Medicine Orchestra strives to unite members of the Duke healthcare system and broader community in the pursuit of musical excellence and cultural enrichment, to inspire and renew its audiences and members. The orchestra provides an opportunity for musicians affiliated with Duke Medicine to come together to play substantial pieces from the classical repertoire. More than 90 orchestra members represent 26 departments across the Duke Medicine community.

The conductor, Verena Mösenbichler-Bryant, is a native of Austria and has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting. She holds appointments as Director of the Duke University Wind Symphony, Assistant Professor of the Practice of Music at Duke University, Conductor of the North Carolina Saxophone Ensemble and Executive Director of World Youth Wind Orchestra Project.

Rehearsals take place on Sunday evenings from 6–8:30 pm in Bone Hall (Biddle Music Building, East Campus). A membership fee of $5 per semester helps cover basic costs. Public concerts are held at the end of the fall and spring school semesters.

Spring Concert

The Duke Medicine Orchestra will close the academic year with a concert of popular classical pieces sure to bring a smile to the entire family. Each piece on this spring’s program — including the William Tell Overture, the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and Pictures at an Exhibition — adds a different color and texture. Together they form a delightful arrangement of timeless classical favorites. Make sure to work the DMO Spring Concert into your Mother’s Day plans this year!

To support the Duke Medicine Orchestra's mission, tax-deductible donations can be made securely online here.
You can also support the orchestra by attending or volunteering at performances or serving on the Board of Directors.
